Ubuntu 11.04 has been released and many of you may have already upgraded or installed the latest version. While trying the new Unity interface, you may be wondering how to customize and optimize it to suit your needs. So here is our Ubuntu 11.04 Customization Guide.

Update Your System and Install Necessary Packages 

• Go to update manager and fully update your system.
• If your system does not support 3D hardware acceleration and if you want have Unity as your default interface, install Unity-2D by running following commands: sudo apt-get install unity-2d
• Now just logout and select Unity-2D in session menu.
• You will be prompted to install new drivers available for your system. If not just hit the Ubuntu Button and type Additional Drivers. Click on the first result and install wireless, graphic drivers as required.

“What I can conclude from my tough journey through life is that I’m a lucky man,” Ari summed up recently.

The 38 year old has a few reasons to say so: He battled a drug addiction for years, which finally led to his discharge from Dewa, went bankrupt, and almost slid into obscurity. 

To overcome his drug addiction, he went through rehab. When asked if he had any regrets, the economics graduate from Airlangga University, Surabaya, said: “I even feel grateful I broke down and was kicked out of Dewa. God had a special plan behind my failure.” 

When he realized he was no longer part of Dewa and thus had to struggle for survival, he strove to resolve his issues virtually in solitude. “I had no close ties with, for instance, a priest or figure that could give me some advice. I was all by myself, even estranged. So, the fact that I am here now is a miracle,” he added.

Different manifestations of jazz music were heard at the recently held Borneo Jazz Festival 2011 in Miri, Sarawak, to the delight of fans comprising a good mix of locals, expatriates and tourists.

Formerly known as the Miri International Jazz Festival, the event’s moniker has only been changed to Borneo Jazz Festival recently, to “highlight its vibrant qualities and prominence with other international festivals, as well as to present Borneo as a top destination among tourists”, said the festival organizer, Sarawak Tourism Board.

Having attracted a smaller turnout of over 6,000, as compared to over 8,000 last year, the four-day event (May 12-15) had proceeded with much aplomb.

After five years of dormancy, the Billboard Music Awards were revived Sunday with a major dose of star power.

Rihanna got the show off to a steamy start, wearing a skimpy leather outfit for her hit song "S&M," and was joined at the end of the number by Britney Spears, who appears on a remix on the track.

Taylor Swift won the evening's first award, as top album artist, behind the multimillion sales for "Speak Now."

"The impact of an album is all determined by the fans," she told the audience. "You've just given me another reason to be completely in love with you."

This year marks the Billboard Awards' rebirth. The Billboard Awards had been a staple since 1989, but gave out what appeared to be its last award in 2006. This year, the show was brought back.

Pitbull has it all as song tops UK singles chart

U.S. rapper Pitbull's song "Give Me Everything" has topped the British singles charts, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday.

The track -- the result of Pitbull's collaboration with U.S. singers Ne-Yo and Nayer and Dutch producer Afrojack -- rose from last week's fourth position and pushed "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars down to the second place.

Lady Gaga scored four singles in the top 40 list. Her lowest-ranked hit -- "Born This Way" from the much-hyped eponymous album due out on Monday -- came in at number 16.

New to the ranking were "Save The World" by Swedish House Mafia, at number 11, and "Hair" by Lady Gaga, at number 13.

In the albums chart, English pop singer Adele held on to the top spot with "21" for the fifth week in a row. Earlier this year, the recording topped the chart for 11 consecutive weeks before its reign was briefly broken in April.

New entrant "Director's Cut" by Kate Bush became the second-most popular album of the week.

Thursday night, Justin surprised one of his favorite artists, lesser-known indie singer-songwriter Ernie Halter by showing up to Ernie's concert and joining him on stage. The two singers, who had previously never met, performed together Ernie's song "Come Home To Me."

The Rock Ridge Music recording artist was completely blindsided that Justin and Selena Gomez showed up to his concert at the La Cave restaurant in Orange Country, California. "I looked over to my left and saw him sitting there and my jaw dropped," Ernie told Yahoo! Music about Justin, who had just landed in Los Angeles, fresh off of an 11-hour flight from Tokyo.

Season 10's "American Idol" finale is this week, and while finalists Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina both had their great moments this year (Scotty's best performances, in my opinion, were "You've Got A Friend" and "Gone," and Lauren's were "Flat On The Floor" and "Trouble"), ironically, I think the best performances of the season were by contestants who've already been voted off. "American Idol" often works out that way, sadly.

wide-ranging group of Canadian performers headlined the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, including a surprise appearance by Neil Young, as well as songs from the likes of Michael Buble and Avril Lavigne.

The performers had been kept as a closely guarded secret until the show, which followed the conclusion of the games, but some names, including Canadian rockers Nickelback, and hip-hop act k-os, had leaked out prior to the show at BC Place in Vancouver last night (Feb. 28).
